Our Year 2 students have been exploring 'People's connections to places and living things' throughout various topics during Semester 2. This learning area focuses on describing features of places and the connections people have with certain places and living things - especially animals. Students have been investigating the habitats of animals with close attention to their environments and surroundings. In order to consolidate their learning experiences, an excursion had been organised for in Term 4 to take place at Featherdale Sydney Wildlife Park. This excursion included a guided exploration and interactive walk through enclosures, including a personal koala encounter with a 4x6" souvenir photo.
Prophet Muhammad SAW said:"Kindness is a mark of faith, and whoever is not kind has no faith"(Sahih Muslim)During World Kindness Day, our students allocated a part of their day to learn the importance of 'kindness' and how it positively affects the people around them, making the world a better place 🌎Students were assigned tasks to create a 'Kind Card' to a peer, expressing to them one kind thing they are known for. From kindness bracelets to hug cards; every one of our students left that day, with a positive though about them. This was a great opportunity to reinforce the reminders our students are told around the importance of being 'kind' in islam.#kindness #faith #WorldKindnessDay
The Year 1 students had an incredibly fun and engaging time during their excursion to the Australian Museum! The dinosaur gallery was a definite highlight. Many students were fascinated by the life-sized dinosaur skeletons and could barely contain their excitement as they learned about the different species that roamed the Earth millions of years ago. They enjoyed imagining what it would be like to see these massive creatures in real life, and several students asked questions about how scientists know what dinosaurs looked like. The Australian wildlife exhibits were another big hit. The students were captivated by the wide variety of animals on display, especially the insects, reptiles, and native Australian animals like kangaroos and koalas. The children loved seeing the preserved specimens and learning fun facts.
